Also, this paper will include an art critic review of his artworks. Abelardo Morell is a renowned Cuban-born photographer in the field of Contemporary photography, known for his invention working methods, including the use of a Camera Obscura that represented by Edwynn Houk Gallery in New York City. He took the Camera Obscura out of the past and bring it toward the future. This paper hopes to give a reader an understanding of Abelardo Morell and Camera Obscura. Abelardo Morell was born in Havana, Cuba on September 17, 1948 and raised in New York City. he was migrated with his parents to the United States and settling in New York in the year of 1962. However, he lived in Miami, Florida, where he taught himself how to speak the English because he had a hard time to familiarizing to the American culture during his early teen years (e.g. see fig.1). In the year of 1967, he graduated from public high school. During that time, he won a scholarship to Bowdin College in Brunswick, Maine. In the year of 1977, he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Sustainable Education and Perspectives

Question: Discuss about the Sustainable Education and Perspectives. Answer: Introduction: First of all I would like to throw some light on the definition of environment sustainability. Next I will share two memories that changed my perception about the environment and why sustainability should be incorporated in everyday life to make the world a better place to live. Environmental Sustainability can be defined as to meet the resources and the services for fulling the needs of the present and future generations without compromising the ecosystems health (Morelli, 2013). When I was in school there was a subject known as Environmental Science where my teacher used to teach us the basics of the environment like afforestation, deforestation, keeping the environment clean, utilization of the natural resources, etc. One positive memory that I would like to recollect is planting of saplings in ones own home and note the date and the year. I was inspired by my teacher. As one will grow into an adult the tree will simultaneously grow where one can notice the beauty of the nature. The sapling will eventually grow into a big tree. It will provide shade, emit sweet fragrance, birds will rest on the branches and they will chirp, protect from scorching heat and fruits will be there for eating. As one will grow into an adult one will cherish the memories. This is a very simple way of protecting the mother earth to curb pollution (Chawla, 2014). The second memory is a not so positive one is dumping of wastes into the water bodies. As water is a lifeline to every human being it should be conserved and nourished. My parents taught me not to pee on the side of the water bodies, not to litter ponds with plastics which are hazardous in nature. My parents are environment conscious citizens. They taught me to respect and preserve nature. This learning from my parents helped me to share with my friends, teachers and my work colleagues as I grow up so that everyone will be a responsible citizen and the future generations can lead a healthy life without degrading the environment (Whiteford et al., 2016). The above mentioned incidents have changed my attitude towards environmental sustainability in a different way and have taken my thoughts into a newer level. In todays fast paced world every individual is busy in making more money to have more materialistic gains but at the same time they need to remind themselves that protect their nature where they are living is also ones responsibility. Over the years I have made an emotional connection with the nature by planting trees, participating in various wildlife conservation programs, protection of natural heritage programs, taking part in debates, seminars by telling the importance of environmental sustainability so that every person can take responsibility. Having involved with various green activists, environment experts, etc, I have become more knowledgeable and aware for protecting the environment (Dhakal, 2014). Every day I meet with people to discuss various ideas for protecting the nature. Several ideas like water conservation, improving the air quality, reducing the human and industrial waste, harnessing the renewable resources like wind energy, hydro energy, solar energy, biomass, etc are discussed (Tranter Lester, 2015). With the help of technology how farmers can be helpful for plantation of crops by using organic farming, less water, etc are also discussed. Every other day I get many information of creating world records for planting 1 lakh trees or any NGO digging some lands to conserve water. Governments are providing LED bulbs at a subsidized rate so that electricity is less consumed. Personally in the last seven years I have planted 300 trees and I have taken a note of that. I raise my voice by participating in news channels by telling about the importance of news channels and what are the ways to curb pollution (Vakiloroaya et al., 2014). My profession is teaching. As a teacher I always stressed on positive values which will be a blessing to the society and also respect the nature. From my above experiences, I teach my kids to nourish their bodies as well as take care of the motherland. I teach them to switch off the lights when not in use, connect with nature by getting involved in gardening, throw the waste materials in the dumping areas only, eat fresh and organic foods, consume less meat ,etc. These teachings are also imparted in my school students also. I feel empowered and blessed when they understand the values of protecting the nature. I also conduct classes for parents to make the place an environmental sustainable. Drawing competitions, quizzes and debates are organized into our school where students are empowered so that in the future they can become a responsible citizen (Yavetz et al., 2014). As a teacher I took my students in various excursions and seminars to gain more knowledge for the protection of the environment. There should be an emotional attachment with the nature where everyone should take sensible steps to protect the nature. I have personally invested in water harvesting roof where in the rainy season the water can be conserved and purified. I have also motivated some of my colleagues to do the same (Peterson, 2016). In this digital age there is an urgency to become literate in environmental education. We cant deny the fact that unless we dont take corrective measures to stop polluting the environment the dooms day is not very far away from us. We should do it for ourselves and future generations. Its the duty of the parents, teachers, sensible people to teach the kids and other people for conserving the nature. Everyone keeps their house clean. It gives a sense of satisfaction. But as we step outside the home we observe trees are cut down illegally, various species are being killed by the poachers, garbage littering here and there. Everyone should lend a helping hand and come together to make their society clean. I want to conclude that protecting the environment should be made a priority in everyones lives. As a teacher I am doing my bit by imparting knowledge for protecting the nature. As everyone feels peaceful when staying at ones home in the same way the people should take some steps to clean the environment so that when they will go out of the home they will feel serene and tranquil. Structuralism vs. Functionalism Cited free essay sample

Functionalism Structuralism and functionalism explore the human mind; both are concerned with the conscious self, despite the verbal bashing of each side. While they had some similarities, they also had many differences which will be explored below Structuralism, the first major school of thought in psychology, was founded by Wilhelm Wundt. It is the study of the elements of consciousness, and focused on breaking down mental processes into the most basic components. In Wudnts view, the mind had the power to organize mental elements voluntarily (Schultz, D. P. Schultz, S. E. , 2008, p. 122). In order to do this structuralism relied on a method called introspection. Introspection, however, had a principle flaw and was one basic reason that structuralism completely died in psychology upon Wundts death (Psychology world, 2006). The subject agreement and reliability of structuralism was not consistent with mainstream views of experimental psychologists today (Psychology World, 2006). Structuralism was also later criticized, mainly by ehaviorists, claiming that the theory dealt primarily with internal behavior. It was argued that this was a non-observable element of consciousness which could not be measured accurately. Functionalism formed as a reaction to structuralism; it was influenced by the work of William James and the evolutionary theory of Charles Darwin. Functionalism is concerned with how the mind functions, and therefore also used the method of introspection. Functionalists studied the mind not from the standpoint of its composition-its mental elements of structure-but rather as a conglomerate or ccumulation of functions and processes that lead to practical consequences in the real world (Schultz, D. P. Schultz, S. E. , 2008, p. 145). Functionalism emphasized individual differences, which had a great impact on education. John Dewey went on to use the theories of functionalism to determine that children should learn at the level appropriate for which they are developmentally prepared. However, Just as structuralism had its disbelievers, so did functionalism. The term function was used loosely. It can refer to both how the mental process perates, and how the mental process functions in the evolution of species (Oxford Companion, 2006). Because it lacked a clear definition, it was subjected to the same problematic aspects of structuralism. This is when behaviorism was introduced. Behaviorism dealt solely with observable behavioral acts that could be described in objective terms (Schultz, D. P. Schultz, S. E. , 2008, p. 20). similarity is that they both took interest in the mental process; after all functionalism was only formed as a reaction to the flaws of structuralism. Further, both used introspection as a method to explore their ideas. Lastly, both structuralism and functionalism had a desire for psychology to become scientific. While there were some comparisons in these two schools of thoughts, there were definitely more differences in the two. As mentioned ea rlier, functionalism developed, to a certain degree, as a reaction against structuralism. It was thought that psychological processes would be best understood in terms of their function rather than their structure. In other words, structuralism asked what happens when an organism does something, and functionalism asked how and why. Functionalism rew on evolutionary theory rather than modeling psychological processes on the combination of mental elements. Breaking away from functionalism, behaviorism dealt with observable behavior as a result of environmental stimuli. This was in contrast to focusing on the internal mental process which rejected introspection and called for a more scientific method. Structuralism did not withstand the test of time and soon faded out despite an intensive program of research which relied on the contemplation of ones own thoughts, desires, and conduct. The experimental methods used in structuralism would not hold up to todays standards; the xperiments were too subjective and the results were therefore unreliable. Functionalism emphasized the function, or purposes, of behavior as opposed to its analysis and description, and soon disappeared as a separate school because it lacked the kind of exactness needed to facilitate its theory. Despite its disappearance as a separate school of psychology functionalism never really died, it became part of the mainstream psychology (Oxford Companion, 2006). The importance of looking at process rather than structure is a common attribute of modern psychology. As an ndividual approach it lacked a clear formulation and inherited problems from the structuralist reliance on introspection, however the theory of functionalism is still around today. This writer believes that structuralism is important because it was the first major school of thought in psychology and because it influenced experimental psychology. However, other than the effect it has had on the history of psychology it has no place in modern psychology. Functionalism has had a great impact of modern psychology. As she will become a teacher soon, this writer cannot help but be grateful for the mpact functionalism had on the educational system.
